For a garden wedding in upstate New York, the couple wanted to showcase vibrant summer greenery and make a nod to the groom’s Dutch ancestry.

A gatefold invitation with a ribbon closure features rustic doors that open up to the rose garden at the Valley Rock Inn in Sloatsburg, NY. In the distance, the wedding tent is visible through opposite garden gates.

The enclosed invitation features a custom crest, names in hand-painted calligraphy and a bespoke font created for the couple. It is printed on a translucent vellum insert that when removed, shows the entirety of the garden and fountain behind it.

The couple’s beloved pup Peyton requested the favor of a reply on an RSVP card enclosed in the invitation suite. This was printed on custom die-cut cardstock in the shape of a delft blue urn. An additional insert with a blue and white border invited guests to the Rehearsal Dinner and referenced a historic china plate.

A Save the Date mailing preceded the invitation and was printed on thick, round cardstock. It featured the crest we designed and painted for the occasion. The couple’s monogram was set against hydrangeas, anemones, roses, tulips and delphiniums – all flowers that would be included in the day-of floral arrangements. Dutch ancestry was referenced subtly through the Delft blue and white patterns and in the crowned lion, who is represented in the groom’s family crest. Alongside it, their dog Peyton helps hold up the bowl.

Day-of papers included a hand-lettered menu with a painterly Delft border, napkins and cups printed with the custom crest, and a Weekend Festivities guide printed accordion-style and included in welcome packages for guests upon arrival.
